One Million Views on Social Media

Blog, Social Media

One of my freelance roles involves event management for a large agricultural show and part of that role includes marketing the event. Over the 9 years of my involvement with Stanhope Agricultural Show I have worked as part of a team enhancing their social media reach.

The show takes place on the second weekend of September and this year I aimed to create content which was scheduled almost every day on the last 4 weeks prior to the show.

The show has some great images. I used many of these images and along with writing original copy this tactic really helped us to find “our voice”. I made a decision not to use any AI imagery or AI prompts to write the copy. I am increasingly hearing a backlash against the obvious over use of AI in social media posts.

The hours of work paid off.

Between the end of July and the end of August, we achieved a figure of 1 million views. On organic content.

I have not seen this figure before on a social media campaign.

We did boost and pay for Meta adverts but the 1 million views was reached on organic content.

So what were the key points defining this campaign and how did we achieve this reach:

  1. We wrote original copy
  2. We used original images
  3. Posts were written, re-read and scheduled for almost every day
  4. We aimed to build a sense of FOMO
  5. We wrote with a consistent “voice”.

And did this figure convert to website visitors? Did it convert to show visitors?

….We are still completing the maths but the show attracted many thousands of visitors in 2026!
