Webdesign for North-East Business: What a Calm, Clear Website Can Do

When a potential client lands on a therapist’s website, they’re often already feeling overwhelmed. They may have been putting off getting in touch for weeks. A website for that kind of audience can’t shout, and it can’t be cluttered or confusing. It has to feel like a safe place to start.

That was the brief for Pamela O’Hara Psychotherapy, a Boldon-based practice offering neuroaffirming CBT, EMDR and Compassion Focused Therapy, both in person in South Tyneside and online across the UK. It’s a good example of something I’d say to any North-East business: good web design isn’t about showing off. It’s about making the right person feel understood within a few seconds.

Pamela works with neurodivergent adults and people living with trauma, anxiety and dissociation. Everything on the homepage follows from that. The headline, Compassionate Therapy for Self-Understanding and Change, says what she offers and how it will feel. The language is plain, warm and free of jargon. Pamela provided clear direction with the style and tone of her website.

A website should grow with the business. Pamela’s has dedicated areas for Supervision, Events, Research and a Blog, so there’s room to share expertise and build trust over time.

You don’t need to be a therapist for this to apply. Whether you run a business in Gateshead, a café in Newcastle or a consultancy in Sunderland, the same questions matter. Who are you talking to? How do you want them to feel? What’s the one thing you want them to do next?

Your website is your digital voice around which the spokes of your marketing will revolve.
